2026 trends: the return of mineral materials

Natural stone, large-format ceramic, sintered stone… Mineral surfaces are taking over Geneva's kitchens. A look at a trend that is really a return to essentials.

Material before colour

For years, kitchens were designed in terms of front colours. In 2026, they are designed in terms of materials. Veined natural stone, large-format ceramic and sintered stone are settling onto worktops, splashbacks and even island fronts.

What our clients are looking for: a surface that ages well, that has a depth photography cannot capture, and that invites touch. Exactly what mineral materials do best.

Three ways to adopt it

The monolithic island. A single visual block, in pale stone or marble-effect ceramic, becoming the centrepiece of the space — as in our “Mineral kitchen” project in Champel.

The continuous splashback. The worktop material rises up the wall without interruption. The effect is calm, luxurious and easy to live with.

The discreet touch. A stone shelf in a niche, a matching table top: mineral materials also work in small doses, especially paired with wood.

What it means for maintenance

Ceramic and sintered stone are practically immune to scratches, heat and stains. Natural stone asks for a little more care — we always explain, sample in hand, what each material will ask of you. That, too, is bespoke advice.

All of these materials can be seen and touched in our Carouge showroom.
